Jill Buck

Jill Buck, is a former Naval Officer; proud mother of 3; and founder & executive director of Go Green Initiative.

How do you eco?:
“I like to think of ‘green’ as who I am, not what I do. I’d like to think that I’m the kind of person who wouldn’t knowingly waste anything, and so I try to act accordingly. And I wouldn’t knowingly introduce toxins into my children’s world, and so I try to make sure I don’t. I “eco” by trying to think through the ramifications of my action (or inaction), and when I reach the point when I don’t know the effect of my actions, I try to find out….” More from Jill and her green favorites »

“We try to think of everything. We work in partnership with our clients to make them feel comfortable. From private consultations, a personal office tour, relaxing music, herbal shoulder wraps and organic lip balm, we try to relax our clients. We want you to feel comfortable.

We also want to make sure we don’t contaminate, but still re-use our resources as much as possible. We have a mercury amalgam separator, so old fillings don’t just go down the drain and back into the water system. Most dentists don’t even know about it….” More from Dr. Nammy and her green favorites »

Big Green Purse: Diane MacEachern

January 28th, 2009 by Luke Fretwell

Diane MacEachern, founder of the Big Green Purse website, speaker and author of Big Green Purse: Use Your Spending Power to Create a Cleaner, Greener World, is passionate about empowering consumers — especially women — to use their marketplace clout to protect the environment.

How do you eco?

How DON’T I eco? It’s simply the way I live my life. I’m lucky to live in a house I helped design and build to have a pretty modest “footprint.” I have an organic garden. I live close to a subway so I can minimize driving. I also live in a community with a terrific farmer’s market and food coop. I try to share what I’ve learned through my website, blog, books and speeches. I also try to raise my kids as “eco” as possible – that can be the biggest challenge of all!

Personally, I do all I can to support local green businesses. And I’m obsessed with composting.

Why did you go eco?

I celebrated the first Earth Day, so I’ve been ‘eco’ for a long time. It always seemed like the right thing to do. And it still is!

What’s your favorite eco tip?

Buy less. That’s all there is to it!
